GREG’S CHAT

This weekend Ingrid is away at the Clergy Spouses Conference and I’ll be running around being a taxi the whole time.

Many thanks to those who helped with the ground working bee. Our parish has a big property and it requires a lot of work to maintain it.

Last weekend a few people completed the NCD survey. Once a few loose ends have been tied up, the coordinator, Margaret Henzell will post the forms off. When the results are received they will be studied by Parish Council and strategies developed to further God’s mission through St. Peter’s.

It’s not too late! You are welcome to join a Lenten Study group. They are listed on the back of the pew sheet. Its impressive to see so many people exploring and developing their faith in this way.

This Wednesday at 10 in the chapel I’ll be screening the movie “The Gospel According to St. Matthew” by Paolo Passolini. Movie buffs tell me its one of the best movies on the life of Christ. Of particular interest is the fact that most of the actors were amateurs. Do you think it matters that Passolini was a homosexual, atheist and Marxist? At a press conference in 1966, Pasolini was asked why he, an unbeliever, had made a film which dealt with religious themes; his response was, "If you know that I am an unbeliever, then you know me better than I do myself. I may be an unbeliever, but I am an unbeliever who has a nostalgia for a belief."

If you are not able to watch it at this time, and would like to, please see me.

Youth Ministry is being restructured.

SPYS (primary aged youth group 4.30-6 ) is being run by a collection of parishioners. Its great so see some of the older youth helping out. Would you like to help by baking some lovely home made things for them to eat? Please drop them off at the office during office hours or the Parish Centre at 4.30. I hope we can be flooded by offers so Jo will have to make up a roster!

Chris Richards is volunteering and running the High School youth group (Full Of It 7.30-9.30). Its become hugely successful with lots of local teenagers turning up and as a result posing some logistical problems. Please pray that Full Of It will be safe, a compelling witness for Christ, and a doorway into the church. Please pray that the church can develop the gifts and faith that God’s has given them. I’m praying that we can see some of their musical abilities. I just have to find a way to do it.
